Our 2023 Year in Review Reflecting on the Things That Brought Great Success

January 2, 2024

By: Kendall Hunt RPD Editorial and Development Team

Before we close the books and say goodbye to 2023, we wanted to reflect on the things that brought great success and many blessings throughout this year.

With a fresh year before us, the Kendall Hunt PreK–12 Religious Publishing Department (RPD) is taking a moment to look back at the one we’re leaving behind!

For Kendall Hunt RPD one of our many major highlights includes the planning, preparation, and participation in the 2023 Educations’ Convention where over 6,000 Adventist educators gathered together to discover Something Better on their Journey to Excellence through Education. The setting was perfect and the positivity that buzzed throughout the convention center was so contagious, that one didn’t even notice the 104 degrees plus temperatures outside…it was dry heat!

This year was even more significant because Kendall Hunt RPD has continued to have the privilege of collaborating with the NAD Office of Education in creating custom curriculum solutions that reflect the core beliefs of their Adventist school system. In all that we do, our Kendall Hunt team strives to be more than just a publishing company, but a true publishing partner and we work towards “Something Better” on the Journey to Excellence through Education.

In 2023, we were proud to share the customized programs that had been so successfully implemented in Adventist schools across the country. It is always great to connect with educators at this convention every five years and meeting face-to-face to get feedback on some of our customized resources. Additionally, we provided breakout sessions to assist educators in implementing and teaching to the fidelity of these customized faith-based programs.

Here are a few of the program highlights as we look forward to a new year and a new decade!

Pathways2.0 Reading and Language Arts

Our partnership started with the development of Pathways and was the signature program that developed into our long-lasting collaboration. The major revision of the program, Pathways2.0 Reading and Language Arts program, (grades 1-8), provides instruction in “cherishing the meaning of knowledge” through reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Pathways2.0 is a student-centered learning program created to recognize each learner's spiritual, mental, physical, social, and emotional development and to support them on their journey toward “Something Better” in their education.

Pathways2.0 provided rich, faith-based language arts resources for traditional and nontraditional classrooms. The program is currently being used in hundreds of classrooms, where students and teachers are experiencing firsthand the positive effects of a custom, theme-based reading and language arts program that enriches their reading skills through the lens of their faith.

Kindergarten Stepping Stones

The Kindergarten Stepping Stones program recognizes young ones are created in God's image and must be nurtured to think, learn, choose, and grow. The philosophy of the program is based on the belief that kindergarten is an important time of transition for young children. It is the bridge between home, early childhood education, and the primary grades of school.

With its ten cross-curricular units aligned with Pathways, Kindergarten Stepping Stones is an innovative, literature-rich custom curriculum to acclimate children to the school setting and the Adventist worldview. This comprehensive, standards-based program also encourages children’s natural curiosity, introducing them to the inquiry-based mind-set.

ByDesign Science

ByDesign Science is a faith-based inquiry science curriculum for grades 1-8. Designed to nurture a child’s natural curiosities as they explore the scientific wonderment of God’s creation through the lens of the Bible.

ByDesign Science offers a robust, standards-based curriculum that engages students, helps them discover, and explain their knowledge, encourages them to extend, and provides frequent opportunities for assessment and reflection. The lessons found in the program offer you greater control over your students’ success and provide teachers with a well-structured lesson plan to create the perfect pacing guide.

ByDesign Biology

Building on the success of ByDesign Science our faith-based custom curriculum, Kendall Hunt and the NAD Office of Education wanted to provide resources for high school students and continue to support them in in their faith development.

Closing the books and saying goodbye to 2023, we are thankful for the great success and blessings that we have shared with all our publishing partners, throughout the year. We look forward to the new year and expanding our relationship to bring Something Better to you on your Journey to Excellence in Education!
