For over 20 years, Kendall Hunt RPD has had the privilege of collaborating with the NAD Office of Education in creating custom curriculum solutions that reflect the core beliefs of your Adventist school system. In all that we do, we strive to prove “Something Better” on your Journey to Excellence through Education.
As students and teachers return to school this fall, many are navigating a hybrid environment that combines digital and in-person education. Whether students attend in-person classes for only a few days a week or opt for remote learning, schools are wisely preparing for various scenarios.
ByDesign Biology the Scientific Study of Life offers a comprehensive curriculum that seamlessly adapts to different learning environments. Building on the success of ByDesign Science, a faith-based custom curriculum, Kendall Hunt and the NAD Office of Education wanted to provide resources for high school students and continue to support them on their journey.
This curriculum is aligned with Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and provides students with a strong foundation for higher level science studies. The program considers two popular contrasting worldviews—materialistic Darwinism, which claims that life originated without divine intervention, and biblical theism, which is the belief in the existence of God. Like all worldviews, the Darwinian and biblical worldviews provide a framework for understanding reality—and particularly biology. The program explores both worldviews while adhering to the principles, beliefs, and high standards of the faith-based educational system.
ByDesign Biology offers these key features:
1. Digital Availability: All components of the ByDesign Biology curriculum—the Student Edition, Teacher Edition, and Student and Teacher Lab Resources—are accessible digitally through the online platform, Flourish. Whether planning lessons remotely or facilitating virtual learning, these resources are readily available.
2. Hybrid Edition: The Student Edition is available as a hybrid option, combining print and eBook formats with a four-year license. This flexibility ensures that students can learn effectively, regardless of their location.
3. Teacher Support: The digital Teacher Edition includes answer keys, an assessment generator, test bank, and PowerPoint presentations. Teachers can easily adapt experiments, guide students through challenging areas, and address questions effectively.
4. User-Friendly Design: The digital components are user-friendly and both Teacher and Student Editions can be viewed in single-page mode or enlarged for better readability. Additionally, students can take notes directly in their eBooks.
5. Efficient navigation: The table of contents links directly to chapters, lessons, glossary definitions, and supporting labs. Students can seamlessly navigate between concepts and review information before assessments.
ByDesign Biology eliminates the stress of transitioning from in-person to digital learning. With all program components available digitally, teachers can focus on teaching rather than administrative tasks. Make the most of your time with your students, regardless of the learning environment!
